This is my first non DD project car. Alignment off in an unrectifiable way due to worn/bent somethingorother? No problem.... replace all the things!
New vs old upper and lower A-Arms for the Spider. Shiny!
Thank God I picked a project car with cheap parts....
In other news, the primer went on over the weekend, ready for its 400 grit wet sand bath:

Nice! What kind of bodywork did you need before primer?

Had some rust to deal with on and behind the doors, a small dent on and behind the driver’s side headlight, some minor dents, knicks and dings.

The more of your posts I see, the more I want a 124 of my own! I’ll be happy with my imported 126 when the time comes though! :)

126, eh? Not familiar with those. This is my first foray into Fiats, I fell in love twice that first day, once at the sight, again when the Lampredi motor revved the first time.
If it handles like it looks, I’m hoping to de-smog, exhaust, 2 barrel carb, cam and install HC pistons, which would get me up around 135-150 hp vs the stock 85... only 2k lbs :)

The FIAT 126 is the descendant of the original FIAT 500 - more modern chunky bodywork with almost exactly the same running gear underneath (except with an uprated engine, 24hp vs the 500's usually 18hp in later models!).
I’d LOVE a 500, but their prices have gone up a LOT in recent years. The nice thing about the 126 is that their prices HAVEN’T really shot up in recent years as, although they stopped being produced by FIAT in the early 80's, they were produced by Polish subsidiary FSM up until 2000 (I know - crazy, right? A car based on a car from the late 50's, itself from the early 70's being produced with only minor changes all the way until 2000? :P).
The 126 has almost the same quirky driving dynamics - a lot of the mechanical parts are directly interchangeable, parts are still very cheap and easy to get in Poland, and they are just a hilariously fun looking little car to tinker with and cruise around in...not going to win any speed races :P

That’s awesome. Prob a great slow fast car. I’m looking forward to driving something this light, my lightest previous car was around 3k lbs, so that’ll be new to me. Parts are plentiful since it shares its running gear with the 124 and Lada and they sold 100k+. Really the only problem is the soda can thin sheet metal... I’ve done a lot of unibody work, but still have the floorboards to do...
